Salinger Article

I used to article to connect Holden to JD Salinger. Salinger, like Holden, bounced around from school to school. I saw where the inspiration for the Catcher in the Rye came from. I thought it was very interesting that Salinger used a school he attended as a model for Pencey Prep. I think maybe the book could symbolize Salingers feelings about the world. Holden thought everyone was phony and he was secluded, but he was also lonely. I think Salinger could have felt that way too, but instead of going out like Holden did, he chose to close his door to the world.

  1. I think maybe Salinger had tried to go out in the world like Holden did, and then got rejected like Holden often did.
